I have returned from England, so blogging proper may commence...
This week, Robert Blatt and Leo Svirsky have joined us - Leo started yesterday, and will be back in on Friday, submitting his compositional process to the rigours of efficiency and regimented scheduling.
Robert has already produced a small work which will be featured in the exhibition booklet, using computer software to spectrally analyze field recordings and transform them into notated compositions. He has miked up the room and will be using the sounds of us working as material for a set of compositions that will be performed at the opening - externalization of labour.
Hopefully, I shall be filming some short interviews with the participants and they can explain their work in their own words.
A dance test was created today, and will be tested out on Friday. The program now has variable speed for each performer controlled by MIDI and each player can rotate in 90 degree increments. The MIDI controller allows for the performing of the speed and synchronization of performers as they move between different sets of pre-programmed positions. The interface has been completely re-designed to make it easy to use:
Meanwhile, Ana started preparing for testing segments a large painting that will be positioned in the gallery, as well as putting together a diagram outlining the main conceptual streams of New Fordist thought and their historical context.
The New Fordist Organization GEMAK residency was supported by GEMAK and a Stroom PRO Kunstprojecten Grant.
